Join environmental historian and activist Paul Hirt as he takes a look back through the history of the environmental movement.
Hirt came to ASU in 2004 but has lived in Arizona for over 30 years. In both his professional and personal life, he promotes sustainable water management, renewable energy, and responsible public land management. He has been an active member of the Sierra Club for 38 years, was a co-founder of the Sky Island Alliance and the Arizona Wilderness Coalition, and currently serves as a pro-solar board member of the Salt River Project.
In his talk, Hirt, who recently retired from academia, will reflect on the origins and development of the environmental movement from the 1960s to the present, illuminating the many paths for citizen engagement in environmental protection.
